Course Name: Invent iT


Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is to explore with the students, the different stages involved in the invention or creation of a product.

Course Duration: 1.5 hour per week for 12 Weeks.

  • Week 3: Expanded Idea
  • Week 4: Prototype

  2. A brief look at the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office, www.uspto.gov 
  • Week 6: Financing
  1. Angel Investors
  2. The Government as an Investor
  3. The Inventor as an Investor
  • Weeks 7 & 8: Product – Actual Tangible Product (Consumer Utility)
  1. Product Testing [Beta Stage]
  2. User Feedback
  3. Product Improvement – Adjustments, Modifications
  4. Product Release
  5. Mass Production
  6. Mass Marketing
  7. Product Availability – Work Local Think Global (Local Audience, Global Audience)
  • Week 9: User Feedback
  1. Encourage Continuous User (or Customer) Feedback
  2. Incentivize User Feedback
  3. Act on User Feedback – Taking Feedback Seriously
  • Week 10: Constant & Continuous Improvements – The Kaizen Principle
